2 Years In!!!!
Here to reflect on life after two years of work & my progress on the year’s resolutions :)
Every time I reset my password at work symbolise the start of a new year of being at work. I've just reset it for the third time earlier this year!!!! How is it 50% Already? I’m still on track at feeling peaceful at work! This year has been a blessing, I had a functioning English partner to share the load with, I’ve come to make peace with myself when I have to work with people whom I have clashing working styles & beliefs in. I continue to feel fulfilled & take pride in what I do. Work is still draining & tiring, and I haven’t been able to do work after work on the weekdays — blessings in disguise? Nonetheless, I continued to be powered by deadline adrenaline so all is well & good! Delulu(?) self-talk: Time is can be made TT_TT. The balance will shift next year though, as I would highly likely follow this group of children up to a different curriculum and work with a different teaching partner that might or not be functioning.
Do I still miss freedom? Definite YES! But I think I don’t really mull over it anymore — kinda living on an autopilot mode at times. Not a good thing though! One of the best decision I made for my birthday is to give myself downtime to live more consciously & have no social meeting other than gymming and having breakfast with my gym friends in the morning! The rest of the day was spent packing & tidying my space (totally spontaneous) and eating with my family. It was really wholesome and I realised how my weekends are always spent out and about :’) Perhaps this is a reminder to stay-in more often? :X
Now let me review how I have been progressing on the 5 different hobbies for self-improvement too!
1: A goal that makes me $$$ in the long-run
- Increase my investment literacy, automate certain processes
- Think: By which date can I complete the renewal mod & set up the automation?
- Review: I haven’t been able to figure out the automation, probably go consult some friends on this area before the year ends :’) Putting this as the next priority now?
2: A goal that keeps me healthy #ActiveYP!!
- Look forward to returning to aerial pilates with flywfitness / 2Yclub
- Putting it here first - yoga mat, ball, and wall exercises
- Think: Are there any youtube playlists to follow for what I can do myself?
- Review: I have been super (or too) active? And protein really helps my muscle recover from the exercises! Have been trying to alternate between strength & cardio, mobility has been taking a backseat opps. Really in my #ActiveYP era right now, at the same time reevaluating the cost & benefit on the physical & financial health
3: A goal that increases my interpersonal skills [continued!]
- Practice human-centric skills by volunteering with growth circles
- Review: I didn’t return to facilitate growth circles because the immense amount of active listening & attention needed to create a safe space for people. What I have been doing, is to return to KMM! This time as a parent facilitator, commencing my first physical session this Sunday! Think it is not going to be easy but definitely a step outside my comfort zone :)
4: A goal that improves my intrapersonal skills/mindset [on hold]
- Patience: Support mm in her learning of Taiji
- [on hold] reading: You are not listening, Thanks for the feedback, It's ok not to share (ECE), What we say and how we say it matters, 100 languages of children, Others: Anti-bias education; loose parts play (ECE)
- Review: The mother has decided to quit Taiji, have been bringing her to flower dome instead. Doing less reflective work these days too… Might just put this on hold for the time being.
5: A goal that keeps me creative [on hold]
- I've broken the streak on Duolingo for the time being to focus on work and other parts of life
- Review: I returned to it just to be less consistent again. Would just put this on hold as well
